Design and Design Submissions under JCT D&B24

Design and Design Submissions under JCT D&B24

Level Advanced
Duration 30 minutes

Having considered the Contractor’s basic obligations in terms of workmanship in the last module, we now move on to design.  In this course, we are looking at the JCT Design and Build Form. The split of design responsibilities and how this is amended is a critical part of understanding responsibilities under the Contract.

Unlike the Standard Forms there is no Contractor’s Designed Portion. The Contract uses the Employer’s Requirements and Contractor’s Proposals to create the distinct responsibilities.

Accreditations & CPD

This course provides structured Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Recognition of CPD is subject to individual professional body requirements and the learner’s role. This course is not formally accredited unless explicitly stated.

Learning Outcomes

After completing this module, you should:

• Understand where the design may be found and what documents form it
• Be able to explain the Contractor’s basic design obligations
• Know how CDM and Building Regulations impact upon the Contractor’s obligations
• Be familiar with some of the clauses that may be amended to change  the design responsibilities under the Contract
