A Quantity Surveyor, often called a QS, is a commercial and financial professional working in the construction industry.
The role of a QS is to help ensure that construction projects are delivered cost effectively, while protecting the contractual and commercial interests of the organisation they represent.
Many people think quantity surveyors only measure work or prepare Bills of Quantities. The modern QS role is much broader. Quantity Surveyors are involved in cost planning, procurement, contract administration, payment, change management, forecasting, risk management and final accounts.
This course introduces the role of the Quantity Surveyor, why the role matters, what a QS does during the project lifecycle and the key skills needed to succeed in the profession.
